The reverse credit transfer option allows students to transfer credits from a 2-year and/or 4-year college or university back to Hawkeye Community College to complete their degree.
If you will be transferring credits from Iowa State University, University of Iowa, or the University of Northern Iowa to complete your two-year Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree at Hawkeye, check out the Transfer in Iowa Reverse Credit Transfer Program.
When applying for admission to your transfer university, opt into the Reverse Credit Transfer Program on your transfer universities admissions application form.
If you have already applied for admission at your transfer university and didn’t indicate that you want to opt into the Reverse Credit Transfer Program, contact your transfer university now to opt in.
Students must meet all of the following requirements to successfully reverse credit transfer to complete their degree at Hawkeye:
-
Meet Hawkeye Community College's minimum on-campus credit residency requirements by either:
- Completing at least 30 credits at Hawkeye prior to transferring.
- Completing 16 of your last 22 credits at Hawkeye. Visit with your Hawkeye Academic/College Success Advisor to see if you qualify for this option and request to have your degree audit updated.
-
Have a degree GPA of 2.00 or higher before transferring.
-
Receive a grade of C- or higher in order for your credits to transfer back to Hawkeye.
Your diploma will be printed and mailed to the name and address on file at Hawkeye.
If your name and/or address changed after transferring:
Do you have a hold on your student account?
If there is a hold on your student account, Hawkeye cannot send you your diploma until the hold has been resolved.
If there is a hold on your student account, we will mail you a letter to the address on file to notify you of the hold.
Once all holds have been resolved, contact the Registrar's Office to request your diploma be mailed to you.
